Disability Support Workers in Perth

We care. Now, we know what you’re thinking – we have to say that. But the truth is, we really do care.

We, as a team, are 100% committed to making sure that every one who uses our disability support services in Perth is comfortable with us, and that everyone involved has the best experience possible with us.

We are a team of people who understand that some members of our community have additional care needs, and that it’s okay for you as their primary caregiver to have a break sometimes, and that you shouldn’t feel any sort of shame or guilt for that. That is a message that we want all of you as caregivers to understand, too.

What Makes Our Disability Support Workers Stand Out From Others Across Perth?

Our staff are unique in not only their level of commitment and dedication to their job, but the fact that, as a standard, they are all accredited with the following:

  • Clearance for Working with Children
  • Police Clearance
  • A First Aid qualification
  • Manual handling certification

Our team of Perth based disability support workers are here for you no matter what you need, and will go above and beyond to ensure that your loved one receives the highest level of care for their individual needs.

Responsibilities of a Disability Support Worker in Perth

We treat every person we care for as a unique individual. Consequently, all our Perth disability support workers provide personalised support that includes:

  • recognising that disabled people may be especially vulnerable and safeguarding them against abuse and exploitation, protecting their rights and ensuring they are treated properly and with respect
  • helping with living skills by providing guidance to make the right decisions, ensuring they are able to attend appointments, supporting them through daily tasks such as cooking and cleaning and generally encouraging them to live a normal life
  • assisting with hobbies and leisure activities so people can become members of the local community
  • ensuring support plan goals are achieved
  • making sure that people can look after themselves properly by eating well, taking medication, having exercise and keeping clean
  • accurate record-keeping of medication taken, activities and achievements so that progress can be assessed and changes made when necessary.

Our disability workers in Perth ensure the people they care for can have as full a life as possible and will do everything in their power to make that happen.

Skills & Qualifications for Disability Support Staff in Perth

Complying with regulations and legislation is essential and so all our staff have the necessary qualifications, certifications and clearances. But we require more than that because we want them to be special characters who can provide the right kind of required support.

All our disability support workers in Perth need to be able to engage with people irrespective of where they are and the problems they have. They need to have patience because they have to deal with people who may be uncooperative, may have difficulty communicating or may be withdrawn.

Our support workers are able to follow support plans and schedules but, at the same time, are encouraged to take decisions independently because the people they are there to help rely on them for the correct actions. We want them to be able to build relationships so that they’re liked and trusted by their clients.

Above all else, our support workers enjoy helping people and get great satisfaction from seeing them progress. They know when to help, when to step back and take the right decisions to provide the very best support.

Operating Environment for a Disability Support Worker in Perth

Providing disability support is not an office-based nine to five job. Our workers know they have to provide support when, where and how it’s needed because people rely on them.

Care may need to be provided in a person’s home, while they’re out in the community or even to enable them to go on holiday. It may be required at any time of the day or night, may be necessary 24 hours a day and requires a flexible attitude from all our staff.

They’re happy to do it because the welfare of the client is always our priority and we’re prepared to go to any lengths to ensure the right level of support is provided. Read Less
